History and Architecture

Villa Longoni is an elegant residence constructed by Francesco Longoni, first the podestà and then the mayor of Giussano, at the beginning of the 20th century in the hilly area of the municipality called “delle Cascine”. The building is located inside a large park of over 50,000 square metres. In the middle of the flight of steps leading from the lawn in front of the villa to the main entrance is set a statue of Alberto da Giussano by the sculptor G. Ricci, while at the back of the villa there is a fountain with a statue of St Francis. The villa is the finest example of the civil architecture of the early 20th century in the Giussano area.
